SINERGY Blame Promoter For Venezuela Gig Cancellation
June 2, 2003Finland's SINERGY have issued a follow-up statement regarding the cancellation of their previously announced May 31 gig in Caracas, Venezuela. It reads as follows:
"To all the fans in Venezuela,
"There has been some confusion on why our concert was cancelled. It seems the Venezuelan promoter wrote in his so-called 'official statement' (written in Spanish) that we were 'afraid' to play there? That is absolute bullshit and a complete and utter lie on his part. We rehearsed very hard for this show and we were all packed and ready to go to the airport when we heard this bad news of our cancellation at the very last minute. This came as a huge shock and disappointment to us all.
"Below you can find the exact e-mail notification sent by the Venezuelan promoter to the band informing them of the reason why the 'government' cancelled their gig. His English is questionable, so you can make up your own minds on what he was trying to say. This is what he wrote to the band WORD FOR WORD the night before they were suppose to leave for the airport:
" 'Hello,
" 'Him I write ashamed since this news I must be the spokesman to inform it, Our company has seen in obligation TO SUSPEND his presentation in Venezuela for Saturday 31 of May, thanks to cancellation of permissions for this event on the part of ALCALDIA Of MUNICIPALITY SAMORA in which VENUE finds in where they would present/display you, Mayorship same are affection to GOVERNMENT NATIONAL (government which they want to remove from Venezuela those in favor of the OPPOSITION),Everything due to the events happened in the City of Caracas this last Saturday 24 of May in which there were several deads and hurt thanks to manifestations against the national government, and all the mayorships you affect and opponents to the government pertaining to the Great Caracas have announced the irrigations of a SOCIAL OUTBREAK due to the manifestations in this region, is for that reason that the ALCALDIA OF SAMORA I cancel the event in its Municipality.
